Improved Task Management For Project Central
Proper Task Management is essential for getting things done in any project.
Anybody managing a project needs to make sure that their projects are set up correctly and that all important tasks are listed clearly and concisely.
So when you’re choosing your project management tool, it’s important to make sure that it’s up to the task.
At Project Central, we’ve rebuilt the way that we do task management, adding features to make it easier for you to do your job.
Our new tasks side panel gives you and your team all the important information about the task, on one-page.
New Features For Improved Task Management:
This update has seen the addition of four key features for improved task management:
- Task Description
- Task Progress
- Focus Mode
- Flagged Tasks.
Task Description:
Simply entering a task name is not enough.
Especially when your setting up the project and communicating your expectations to your team members.
Using the task description field, you can add the extra information that provides the context to help them understand what needs to be done.
So when it’s time to get to work, they simply have to open the task side panel, select the task to view more details, and then get to work.
Task Progress:
As someone managing a project, you’ll want to see what tasks are done, being done, and have yet to begin.
The task progress selector is a quick and easy way for your team to provide you with visibility over their tasks within your project.
Focus Mode:
Use focus mode to zone in on the task at hand and to eliminate all distraction.
Selecting focus mode makes the task side panel slide over the screen, displaying all information needed to get the job done.
This is useful when a team member has multiple tasks to work on, but they need to stay focused on getting through the first one as a priority so that the project remains on track.
Flagged tasks:
When completing their task, team members may come across some issues that you’ll need to help them with.
Simply clicking the flagged tasks icon and it’ll highlight the task in the task list, so you can quickly see that there’s an issue, and investigate what needs to be done to keep things moving forward.
What New Task Features Are Coming Up Next?
The features listed above are the first steps in a major overhaul of the tasks section of Project Central.
Over the coming weeks and months we’ll be adding more functionality to give you even more control over your project, while keeping with our philosophy of simplifying project management.
I also wanted to give you a sneak peak into some of the upcoming features we’ll be releasing in the coming weeks.
- Attach files: To attach files to a task from your connected document library. Team members will be able to search for and quickly attach relevant documents to the task, making it quick and easy for you to access the content.
- Upload files (to a file library & to a task): Similar to attaching files, your team will be able to upload new files and attach them to the task.
- Comments: The ability to add comments to a task, providing more information and feedback for the task assignee.
